The information below applies to the 2017 TeachNZ Kupe Scholarships.

If you’re of Māori or Pasifika descent and you can see yourself becoming an outstanding role model in early childhood, primary or secondary education, consider applying to become a Kupe Scholar. Only 30 can be chosen. Will you be among them?

Kupe Scholars strike out for far horizons and chart new territory on their quest to succeed. They embrace diversity and bring energy and enthusiasm to teaching. The bar is set high, but if you’re among the select few chosen, you’ll enjoy increased status and leadership potential with future employers.

Kupe Scholars receive:

  • Course fees to study an approved teaching qualification
  • An allowance of $15,000 over the period of study (limited to three years)
  • The prestigious Kupe Keepsake – a reminder of your commitment to charting new territory and of our commitment to helping you succeed.

Terms and conditions apply. Find out more about approved teaching qualifications.

Note: Kupe Scholarships are new and replace the Māori and Pasifika High Achievers Scholarships that were last available in 2014.
