Financial help to study

There are several forms of financial assistance available to encourage people to study for an ECE teacher education qualification. These are in addition to the Student Allowances and Student Loan Schemes administered by StudyLink.

Scholarships

TeachNZ Teacher Recruitment Scholarships are targeted at areas of priority for teacher supply to meet increasing demand for teachers in certain sectors over the next ten years. These sectors are currently ECE, Māori Medium teachers, and secondary teachers of specific subjects.

ECE scholarship applications for teacher education study starting in the second semester open on 1 June 2008. Applications close on 31 July 2008. Please note scholarship applications for the first semester closed on 1 February 2008.
