Graduate

If you have a degree and are considering secondary teaching you can choose from these options to complete a secondary teaching qualification at a teacher education provider:

  • Complete a one-year Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary)
  • Complete a two-year Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary)

Ensure your undergraduate degree includes two teaching subjects for secondary teaching.  Otherwise you may have to do further study before completing a Graduate Diploma of Teaching.

TeachNZ Teacher Recruitment Scholarships (Secondary Subjects) are available to encourage people into secondary teaching of certain target subjects and (Rural) are available to encourage people to teach in rural areas - for the latest details, view the application forms below.
