Tertiary student

If you are a tertiary student considering secondary teaching you can choose these options to complete a secondary teaching qualification at a teacher education provider:

Complete a specialist subject degree followed by a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) or
Complete a combined specialist subject and secondary teaching degree.

For secondary teaching it is really important that your degree includes two teaching subjects otherwise you may have to do extra study.

TeachNZ School leaver and Undergraduate Scholarships for study in 2010 will be available for Technology and te reo Māori. These scholarships will open on 1 February 2010 and close on 1 March 2010.
