Submitting an expression of interest for ACET

If you wish to apply for ACET recognition, you need your principal to endorse your expression of interest. Your principal must agree that you are ready to apply for ACET recognition, and that you meet the eligibility criteria.

You should talk to your principal about:

  • how your classroom practice is exemplary in relation to the ACET professional criteria
  • the evidence you will provide demonstrating that your practice meets the ACET professional criteria
  • whether you can make the significant time commitment required to compile your portfolio
  • how you will keep the principal informed as you prepare your portfolio of evidence.

Once your principal has agreed to endorse your expression of interest, fill out the Expression of interest form. Make sure you have completed all mandatory fields, your form has been endorsed by your principal and you have signed the form.

Then email or post the form to TeachNZ on or before the closing date. Applications postmarked or emailed after the closing date will not be considered.

If your expression of interest is selected, you will be invited to submit a Portfolio of evidence, demonstrating how you meet the ACET professional criteria.

If we receive a greater number of expressions of interest than there are allowances available for allocation, we will run a national prioritisation process to select the teachers invited to submit a portfolio. This is because only 800 allowances can be allocated at any one time. In 2018, there were approximately 250 allowances available.
