The information below applies to the 2019 TeachNZ Early Childhood Education Scholarships.

The ECE scholarships are for those who would like to train as early childhood teachers and who have experience working with either Māori or Pacific communities.

Scholarships cover core study fees and an allowance of $10,000 over the period of study. These scholarships are for people who will either commence or continue their study in the 2019 academic year. If your study year starts in Semester 1, you'll need to be enrolled in an approved ECE teaching qualification before applying.

The academic year for early childhood teacher education study has two intakes – one at the start of the calendar year and one that commences mid-year. This scholarship is for:

  • students starting their study year in the first semester of 2019 (start of year). If you receive a TeachNZ ECE scholarship, your course fees will be paid from Semester 1, 2019; and
  • students starting their study year in the second semester of 2019 (mid-year). If you receive a TeachNZ ECE scholarship, your course fees will be paid from Semester 2, 2019.

Please note: For undergraduate applicants, it can be the start of your first or any subsequent year of study. However, for those undertaking a Graduate Diploma of teaching ECE you must be starting from either Semester 1 or Semester 2 in 2019. If you have already started study before 2019, you are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
